The Miracle (Mucize)

The Miracle (Mucize) is a 2014 Turkish comedy-drama film directed and written by Mahsun Kırmızıgül, released in cinemas on January 1, 2015. Filming took place in İzmir's Foça district, Uşak, and a village in the Kağızman region of Kars. Kırmızıgül's fourth feature film, it reflects the poverty-stricken Turkey of the 1960s and the impact of the coup era.

The story follows Mahir, a teacher transferred from a peaceful corner of the Aegean to a remote Anatolian village, where he finds children longing for a school and an education amid deprivation. He also takes under his wing Aziz, the village headman's son, who is ostracized because of a muscular disease. Talat Bulut, Mert Turak, and Mahsun Kırmızıgül star, alongside Ali Sürmeli, Meral Çetinkaya, and Cezmi Baskın. A sequel, The Miracle 2: Love, followed in 2019.
