Jolly Life (Neşeli Hayat)

Neşeli Hayat (Jolly Life) is a Turkish comedy film released in Turkey on November 27, 2009, written, directed by and starring Yılmaz Erdoğan, with Oğuzhan Koç as co-writer. Produced by BKM, its cast is largely drawn from the Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar troupe.

The story follows Rıza Şenyurt, a harmless, ordinary man who takes a part-time job as a shopping-mall Santa Claus to make ends meet, despite barely knowing the figure he portrays. His struggle to hold on to life turns into a journey both comic and melancholic. According to Erdoğan, the character is caught between the worlds of Westernized upper-class Turks and the working class of the country's east. The film became one of the highest-grossing Turkish films of 2009 and was screened in competition at the 29th International Istanbul Film Festival, also earning nominations at the 3rd Yeşilçam Awards.
