Devrim Yakut — Biography

Devrim Yakut is an actress who came up through the state-theatre stage and became a recognisable presence in film and television, also working as an administrator and teacher. Born Seher Devrim, she now plays Hayriye in Rüya Gibi, and the films D.I.S.C.O. and Sonunda Sen are among her 2026 projects.

She graduated from the theatre department of Ankara University's Faculty of Language and History-Geography in 1992. From 1994 to 2003 she worked at the Adana State Theatre and, at the Adana Theatre Workshop that she helped found, also served as producer and instructor. She was appointed to the Ankara State Theatre in 2003, became its deputy director in 2007 and director in 2007-2008, and retired from the State Theatres in 2016. From 2005 she taught basic acting at her alma mater and also taught on Bahçeşehir University's master's programme.

On television she started with Hisarbuselik and appeared in series such as Beni Unutma, Annem Uyurken, Vicdan, Kardeş Payı, Hayat Sırları and Cesur ve Güzel; Camdaki Kız (as Gülcihan), Kirli Sepeti and Harika Çılgınlar followed. In film, Kelebeğin Rüyası, the Düğün Dernek series, 8 Saniye, Bana Masal Anlatma and Ekşi Elmalar stand out. Her first book of stories, Aklımın Aynalı Çarşısı, appeared in 2021. She married fellow theatre actor Alper Kut in 2012. In October 2025 she announced herself that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
