Ercan Durmaz — Biography
Born on 16 August 1965 in Istanbul, Ercan Durmaz holds both Turkish and German citizenship and has spent nearly all of his career working in Germany. He entered German film and television in the early 1990s and, over a long career, has frequently played characters that bridge his two cultures: Hesekiel in Kai Rabe gegen die Vatikankiller, an uncle in A Handful of Grass, Attila in Kanak Attack, and an imam's assistant in The Friend.
He has appeared in multiple episodes of the long-running German crime series Tatort and in the migration-themed drama 4 Blocks, and played Adnan in Herrgott für Anfänger and Dr. Jawad in Head Burst. He has also taken film roles in productions such as St. Pauli Night and İbni Sina: Hekim, remaining active into the late 2010s and becoming a familiar face in German productions.
