Numan Acar — Biography

Turkish-German actor and producer Numan Acar works across both countries. His international breakthrough came in the fourth season of Homeland, where he played the Pakistan-based Taliban leader Haissam Haqqani, a role he reprised in the show's final season. He lives in Berlin and speaks German, Turkish, Spanish and English fluently.

The first phase of his career unfolded in Europe. While studying civil engineering in Wiesbaden he discovered acting after standing in for another performer on stage, graduated in 2001 and moved into professional acting. Kebab Connection (2004) was his first notable screen outing, followed by Turkish and German productions such as Cenneti Beklerken, Nokta, Kokowääh and Labirent. In 2007 he founded Acar Entertainment, which focuses on German-Turkish co-productions; the same year he was among the producers of the series Menekşe ile Halil, shot in Berlin, and in 2012 he both acted in and produced Berlin Kaplanı, starring Ata Demirer.

After Homeland he appeared in films such as Rosewater, The Promise and In the Fade. In 2019 he played Dmitri Smerdyakov in Spider-Man: Far From Home and took a part in Aladdin, and his credits also include In the Fade and Prison Break.
