Gülçin Santırcıoğlu — Biography

Gülçin Santırcıoğlu is an actress who came to screen work from an operatic voice, and is now best known as İfakat in Yalı Çapkını. She has worked across a wide range, from award-winning cinema to historical television drama, and the entertainment press often returns to her as İfakat.

The first phase of her career was in film. A conservatory-trained singer who performed as a soloist with bands, she played Süreyya in her first film Türev; it won Best Film at the Antalya Golden Orange festival and she received the Contemporary Cinema Actors Association's Promising Actress prize. She then appeared in Semih Kaplanoğlu's Yumurta (Egg) and shared the lead with Kaan Keskin in İki Çizgi, which was also screened in Venice. Television knew her first as Hatice in Elveda Rumeli. A second phase brought Doktorlar, Sensiz Yaşayamam, Bir Çocuk Sevdim, Osmanlı Tokadı, Kara Ekmek and Oyunbozan, and she played Çolpan in Diriliş Ertuğrul.

More recently she has been seen as Sultan in Hercai, as Vildan in the Netflix film Azizler, and in Andropoz and, as İfakat, Yalı Çapkını. Music stayed part of her life: she sang a song on the band Badem's album Badem ve Konukları, sat on the jury of the Rotterdam film festival in 2013, and taught singing at the Ruhi Su Culture and Arts Foundation.
