Hande Doğandemir — Biography

Hande Doğandemir is an actress who moved from behind the camera into acting and who has combined her sociology training with television presenting. The wider public came to know her as the high-school athlete Zeynep Yılmaz in Güneşi Beklerken, and then as Turhan Sultan in Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem. More recently she played Türkan in Kıskanmak.

She graduated in sociology from Ankara University and spent part of her final year on an Erasmus exchange in Lille, France. While working on communication sociology she interned at a production company and prepared content behind the camera; offers that followed led her into acting in the series Keskin Bıçak and Kahramanlar. In 2010 she trained at Akademi 35 Buçuk. She played Aslı for two seasons in Sen de Gitme while presenting Hatırlar mısınız? on TRT Okul. She was Elem in Onur Ünlü's Şubat, Şans in a one-episode guest role in Leyla ile Mecnun, and İpek in İbreti Ailem.

Her leading-role period came with Güneşi Beklerken. In film she took the lead in Burak Aksak's Bana Masal Anlatma, and later appeared in Racon: Ailem İçin, Kırmızı Oda, Exxen's Hükümsüz, Annemizi Saklarken, Hayat Bugün and Kaybedenler Kulübü: Yolda. In November 2025 she shared that she had received a marriage proposal from Emre İzer.

Their work through different eyes

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Hande Doğandemir's leading period was Güneşi Beklerken, as Zeynep Yılmaz Güzel in a series about young people from different circles crossing paths in high school. Her later work, Turhan Hatice Sultan in Muhteşem Yüzyıl Kösem or Türkan Ayla in Kıskanmak, sits inside large casts. In my view the work that still suits her best is Güneşi Beklerken.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

Of Hande Doğandemir's work, the best fit for family viewing is Bana Masal Anlatma, a romantic comedy with family and fantasy touches in which she plays the fairy-tale heroine Ayperi. Güneşi Beklerken can be watched with teenagers. Kırmızı Oda deals with trauma and grief, so it is for adults.
