Julia Brendler — Biography

Born in Schwedt, Germany, Julia Brendler began acting at fourteen. Her first role, in Forbidden Love (1989), earned her the Hessian Film Award; she went on to appear in Dagmar Hirtz's Irish-set drama Moondance (1995) and Rainer Matsutani's comedy-horror film Over My Dead Body (1995).

Her career also extended to Turkish cinema, where she co-starred with Tuncel Kurtiz in Usta Beni Öldürsene (1997). In Germany she built an extensive television career, appearing in dozens of series including multiple episodes of Tatort (among them 2015's Borowski und die Kinder von Gaarden), several SOKO productions, and Der Kriminalist. On screen she has also appeared in films such as Phantomschmerz (2009) and Welcome to Iceland (2016).
