Lucienne Legrand — Biography
Born Lucienne Jeanne Marie Charlot, Lucienne Legrand worked early on under the name Lucienne Vigier before adopting the surname of her husband, Henri-André Legrand, as her stage name; she was also linked to actor Fernand Gravey. Born in Douai on 18 July 1920, she made her screen debut in 1941 with Chèque au porteur and went on to appear in more than sixty productions over nearly six decades, through to L'Extraterrestre in 2000. She featured in Marcel Carné's classic Les Enfants du Paradis (1945) alongside Arletty and Gérard Blain, then took roles in The Three Musketeers (1953) and Speaking of Murder (1957) before playing smaller parts through the 1970s in films such as César and Rosalie, Stavisky, Le Magnifique and A Slightly Pregnant Man. Alongside her film work she also appeared on stage in Ce soir à Samarcande (1950), Le Nouveau Testament (1967) and Madame Sans-Gêne (1973), and on television in Cas de divorce (1992). Late in her career she appeared in La Boum 2 (1982); she died in Nogent-le-Rotrou on 19 October 2022, at the age of 102.
