Necla Nazır — Biography
Necla Nazır was one of the best-loved actresses of arabesque-era Yeşilçam, known for innocent and romantic roles in the 1970s and 1980s. She also worked as a singer and ended her screen career in 2008. Her contribution was later honoured with the Lifetime Honorary Award of the Antalya Film Festival.
She grew up in Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, left middle school and took a factory job. When she won a contest run by Ses magazine in 1972, she entered cinema at sixteen. Her early films included Istırap, Umut Dünyası, Garip Kuş and Yatık Emine, followed by Küçük Ev, Kan Kardeşler, Yangın and Adak. In 1976 she shared the lead in Çeşme with Ferdi Tayfur, and their relationship became central to both her screen and private life; they have a daughter, Tuğçe Tayfur, and parted for good in 2007. After 1978 she began performing on stage as an arabesque singer, and most of her films belonged to the same genre. Ve Recep ve Zehra ve Ayşe (1983) and Birkaç Güzel Gün İçin (1984) come from the early 1980s. In 1988 she released the album Sende… Uzadı Geceler.
After leaving acting she presented the programme Hanımlar Buyurun on a television channel. She received a special award from the Film Writers Association (SİYAD) in 2012.
