Oktay Kaynarca — Biography
Oktay Kaynarca is a Turkish actor, producer, screenwriter and television presenter, born on 27 January 1965 in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul. He completed his postgraduate studies in theatre at the Istanbul University State Conservatory and has appeared in more than forty film and television productions over the course of his career.
He rose to national fame through his portrayal of Süleyman Çakır in the cult crime series Kurtlar Vadisi (Valley of the Wolves). When the character was written out of the show, devoted fans held a funeral ceremony in his absence, placed obituary notices in newspapers and even distributed helva on the anniversaries of his death, a testament to how deeply the role resonated with audiences.
On the big screen, he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 31st Golden Orange Film Festival for Yengeç Sepeti and again at the 39th edition for Bumerang Cehennemi. He starred in the series Adanalı (2008-2010) and played the lead character Hızır Çakırbeyli in Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz (2015-2021), one of the most-watched Turkish dramas of the 2010s. In 2022 he took on the role of Cezayir Türk in Ben Bu Cihana Sığmazam. He has also hosted the quiz show Kim Milyoner Olmak İster.
