Honey and Cream (Bal Kaymak) (translated)
Bal Kaymak is a 2018 Turkish family film directed by Onur Tan. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Balkans, it follows young Bade, who loses both parents and initially stays with her aunt Sezen; once Sezen moves abroad, the girl is left in the care of her cranky grandfather Âdem, celebrated for making the finest honey around.
Âdem has spent years feuding with his estranged grandmother figure Havva, each claiming to produce the best honey or clotted cream, and Bade's arrival slowly begins to soften their long rivalry. Filming took place in the abandoned Macedonian village of Lazarapole, in Skopje, and in the UNESCO-listed city of Ohrid.
Tarık Ünlüoğlu and Beren Gökyıldız take the lead roles, with Nihan Taşyürek, Yunus Emre Yıldırımer, Kenan Çoban, Oktay Kaynarca, and Filiz Ahmet rounding out the cast.
