Pascale Petit — Biography

Born Anne-Marie Petit on 27 February 1938 in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, Pascale Petit was working as a hairdresser when her looks caught the eye of actress Françoise Lugagne; Lugagne's husband, director Raymond Rouleau, was casting young actresses for his directorial debut The Crucible (1957) and gave Petit the role of Mary Warren. The following year she won the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti for her performance as Rosalie in One Life (1958).

Through the 1960s she took leading roles in several European co-productions, best remembered for playing Cleopatra in the 1962 film A Queen for Caesar; over her career she appeared opposite actors such as Roger Moore, Curd Jürgens and Jeffrey Hunter. In the 1970s and 1980s she took on a variety of roles on French television, and also appeared in films such as Sexy Susan Sins Again, The War Devils, Boccaccio and Küçük Kovboy. Alongside acting she also worked as a singer; her film career ran from 1957 to 2001 and spanned more than fifty pictures.
