Robert Lamoureux — Biography
Born Robert Marcel Adolphe Lamoureux in Saint-Mandé on 4 January 1920, he was a versatile figure of French entertainment who combined acting with directing, screenwriting, playwriting, poetry and lyric-writing, and also performed as a chansonnier. Across a screen career running from 1951 to 1994 he appeared in more than thirty films, becoming best known for a double role in Signé Arsène Lupin, playing both the famous thief Arsène Lupin and the police lieutenant pursuing him, a film shown at the 7th Berlin International Film Festival. A familiar face in military-themed comedies, he also took the lead in the family comedy Papa, maman, la bonne et moi and its follow-up Papa, maman, ma femme et moi. In recognition of his acting and writing, France made him a knight and later an officer of the Legion of Honour, and an officer of the National Order of Merit. Married to actress Magali Vendeuil, he died in Boulogne-Billancourt on 29 October 2011.
