Rüçhan Çalışkur — Biography
Born Zeynep Rüçhan Çalışkur on 13 February 1947 in Trabzon, she is the elder sister of actor Cüneyt Çalışkur. After graduating from the Theatre Department of Ankara University's State Conservatory, she joined the State Theatres company in 1979 and spent many years on stage in Ankara and Istanbul, in plays including Cadıların Macbethi, Danton'un Ölümü, Afife Jale and Leenane'in Güzellik Kraliçesi; the last of these earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2001 Afife Theatre Awards.
From 2003 she also began working on camera, winning Best Actress at the 2004 Istanbul Film Festival for her role in Bulutları Beklerken; she is also known for films such as Zenne, Elveda Katya, Zerre and Borç, for playing Irazca in the series Yılanların Öcü, and later for the role of Afet in Bir Gece Masalı. In 2020 a short-film performance earned her an award at the Delhi Short Film Festival. Çalışkur also works as a voice actress.
