Samy Seghir — Biography

French actor Samy Seghir, of Algerian descent, was born on 29 July 1994 in Aubervilliers. After his mother answered an advertisement in a local newspaper, he auditioned for Michou d'Auber in 2006 and was noticed by producer Luc Besson, landing the lead role opposite Gérard Depardieu and Nathalie Baye.

He appeared in Big City in 2007, then drew wider attention in 2009 for his performance as Sami Ben Boudaoud in Neuilly sa mère!, a role he reprised in the 2018 sequel. He was among the last fifteen contenders considered for a César Award for Most Promising Newcomer, and has also appeared in productions including Beur sur la ville (2011), Sleepless Night (2011) and The Dream Kids (2013).
