Sezin Akbaşoğulları — Biography

Sezin Akbaşoğulları is a Turkish actress who came to the screen from a theatre education and has balanced television drama with film. The high point of her career is her role as Arzu in Selim Demirdelen's Kavşak, for which she shared the best actress prize at the 17th Altın Koza Film Festival with Nergis Öztürk. Her current work includes Defne in the series Kıskanmak, and in spring 2026 she was reported to have signed on for three new series at once.

She started acting in her high-school theatre group, in the play Yine Başladılar Şarkılarına, and went on to finish the theatre department at Bilkent University. Her first screen role was Doğa in Bizim Evin Halleri in 2000, and her real breakthrough came in 2005 as Ceren Aslanbaş in Beyaz Gelincik, the same year she played the teacher Zeynep in Eylül. Later came Sır Gibi, Derdest, Ah Kalbim and Küstüm Çiçeği, moving between lead and supporting parts; in 2011 she was Ceyda Sevi in Sen De Gitme. In 2012 she played Özgür in the film Yabancı and Eylül Fidan in Behzat Ç. Bir Ankara Polisiyesi. Her film work from this period includes Fakat Müzeyyen Bu Derin Bir Tutku (2014), opposite Erdal Beşikçioğlu.

She then moved into mainstream series with Racon, Hatırla Gönül and Cesur ve Güzel, in which she played Cahide Korludağ. In recent years she has joined historical productions (Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu, Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi) and projects such as O Kız, Tetikçinin Oğlu and the Disney+ series Aşkı Hatırla (2025). Alıkara, Babamın Günahları and Ağlama Anne are also on her slate.
