Tamer Yiğit — Biography

Born Tamer Özyiğitoğlu, he was born on 19 January 1942 in Balıkesir, where he also completed his primary and secondary schooling. While a student at the İzmir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, he won Ses magazine's cover-star contest in 1962 and entered cinema, making his debut that same year in Daima Kalbimdesin; after marrying Rukiye Bayrak in 1973 and having three children, he stepped away from film in 1979 to run a business, returning to the screen in 1987.

A founding member of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in 2001, Yiğit also served on the board of Balıkesirspor and was among the founders of the Cinema Actors' Association. He played Ali Selçuk Toros in Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu in 2007-2008, took an international role in the Dutch series Mocro Maffia in 2018, and reached a wide audience twelve years after leaving that series as Ertuğrul Gazi in Kuruluş: Osman; he most recently played Yusuf Soykan in the series Aile.
