Tilbe Saran — Biography

Tilbe Saran is a stage actress who has performed in more than thirty plays, won numerous theatre awards, and is also known from film and television. For her part in Tiyatro Pera's Vanya, Sonya, Masha and Spike she received the Sadri Alışık, Theatre Critics Association and Üstün Akmen awards in 2017; in 2011 she was named Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Orange for Zenne. In 2026 she was chosen for the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival's Honorary Award.

She began acting as a student in the Kenter Theatre's Arzu Tramvayı; her professional debut was Otel Paradiso at the Dormen Theatre. After graduating from the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory in 1989, she spent 1989 to 1995 at the Istanbul City Theatre, winning awards for plays such as Kral Lear, Vanya Dayı and Tartuffe. After leaving the City Theatre she finished art history at Istanbul University and in 1995 founded the Aksanat Production Theatre with Cüneyt Türel and Işıl Kasapoğlu, taking the lead in seven of its plays. After 2005 she worked with Aysa Production Theatre, Semaver Kumpanya and the Pürtelaş theatre group. In 2009-2010 she appeared in Sur Le Seuil in Paris, and in 2011 she worked on the play Düğün from its writing to its staging and directed it.

On screen she is known for Beş Vakit, Çekmeceler, Bergen, Sıcak Kafa and Masumiyet Müzesi. She served as general secretary of the Actors' Union for three years from 2014, does voice work, and has taught at Kadir Has University since 2006.
