Anatolian Leopard

Anatolian Leopard is a 2021 Turkish comedy-drama written and directed by Emre Kayış, produced as a co-production between Turkey, Germany and Denmark with a runtime of roughly 113 minutes. It opened in Turkish theaters on April 1, 2022.

The story follows Fikret, the director of a struggling municipal zoo in Ankara. With the facility under pressure to close and be redeveloped into an amusement park, the only obstacle is the protected status of the zoo's elderly Anatolian leopard — so when the animal dies, Fikret and his withdrawn assistant Gamze scramble to keep the loss a secret. Uğur Polat and İpek Türktan lead the cast, with Hatice Aslan, Ege Aydan and Ezgi Gör in supporting roles.

The film had its world premiere in the Discovery program of the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize.
