Our Story (Bizim Hikaye) (translated)

Bizim Hikaye is a Turkish drama series that premiered in September 2017 and ran until May 2019, closing in on seventy episodes by the end. Made under the Medyapım banner with Fatih Aksoy producing, the project is a local take on the British show Shameless. Hatice Meryem and Banu Kiremitçi Bozkurt wrote the scripts, and Serdar Gözelekli sat in the director's chair.

At its core is Filiz, the eldest daughter who has to take on responsibility for her six siblings once their mother walks out, stepping in for their alcoholic father. Juggling several jobs to keep the household afloat, Filiz grows close to the enigmatic Barış who enters her life, though that bond is repeatedly tested by his hidden past and by a police officer who has fallen for her.

Hazal Kaya plays Filiz and Burak Deniz plays Barış, with a wide supporting cast that includes Reha Özcan, Esra Bezen, Nejat Uygur, Zeynep Selimoğlu, Ömer Sevgi, Sahra Şaş, Melisa Döngel, and Hazal Adıyaman. Its debut episode drew more than twenty million views, and the show went on to find sizable audiences across countries stretching from Pakistan and India to the Balkans and Southeast Asia.
