I Fell in Love with a Girl in the Village (Köyde Bir Kız Sevdim) (translated)
Köyde Bir Kız Sevdim (literally I Loved a Girl in the Village) is a black-and-white Turkish film from 1960 that runs along the lines of sentimental drama and adventure. Türker İnanoğlu directed it, Zeki Çan produced it, and Çan Film is the production company. It holds a special place in Yeşilçam history as the first film in which Türkan Şoray appeared on the big screen.
The story centres on Ali, who falls for the stepsister he grew up with. Set in a village, it weaves love, family ties and a struggle over a farm together: Ali, together with three ill-intentioned men he works alongside, sets out to seize the farm, and that conflict forms the backbone of the film. The cast includes Türkan Şoray, Baki Tamer, Zeki Çan, Salih Tozan, Hülya Oktar, Asım Nipton, Necati Dalgakıran, Atilla Engin and Erol Taş.
Nejat Okçugil was the cinematographer, and the songs are credited to Ziya Günay and Hüseyin Oylum.
