Binnur Kaya — Biography

Binnur Kaya, whose family originates from Adana, was born in Ankara on 19 April 1972 and moved to Istanbul after completing a theatre degree at Bilkent University's Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in 1995. While working in children's theatres and at the Bakırköy Municipal Theatre, a friend helped her land the role of Asiye on the Hülya Avşar Show, after which she joined the BKM theatre troupe and made her series debut in Kaynanalar.

Across a career spanning three decades she has appeared in İnşaat, Yabancı Damat, Babam ve Oğlum, Küçük Kıyamet and Avrupa Yakası. Her performance in Vavien brought her best actress honours at both the SİYAD and Yeşilçam awards, her comic role in Aramızda Kalsın won at the Golden Butterfly Awards, and a media journalists' association also named her actress of the year. She went on to reach wide audiences in later projects such as Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Sen Kiminle Dans Ediyorsun?, Bizi Hatırla, Cinayet Süsü and Kırmızı Oda.

In March 2026 she received the İsmail Dümbüllü Award from the Ataşehir Municipality, presented on stage by Müjdat Gezen, and visited the honoree's grave the same day before announcing a role in a new series.
