Ezgi Mola — Biography

Ezgi Mola is an actress who has left a mark in both comedy and drama and moves easily between television and film. She is remembered above all as Safiye Derenoğlu in the TRT 1 series Masumlar Apartmanı, and in cinema as Efsun in the Kocan Kadar Konuş films and as Maide in Maide'nin Altın Günü.

Born Mercan Ezgi Mola, she studied for four years at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, graduating first in her department, and made her stage debut with Aydoğan Temel's company. She joined BKM Mutfak in 2005; that year the hairdresser she played in Hırsız Polis and the film Organize İşler made her known. Her part in Hayatımın Kadınısın (2006) gave her the chance to act opposite Türkân Şoray and won her the Sadri Alışık award for Best Supporting Actress. In later years she played Latife Hanım in Veda, appeared in series such as Canım Ailem and Kötü Yol, and became one of the leads of romantic comedy with Celal ile Ceren.

Masumlar Apartmanı (2020-2022) brought her the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actress in 2021. She returned to comedy in Erşan Kuneri and in 2025 played the lawyer Nehir Alsoy in atv's Başka Bir Gün. She has also worked as a film producer.

Their work through different eyes

Cinephile Looks at script, editing and directing choices; keeps a distance from formula films.

Ezgi Mola adapts to two very different cinematic languages: Berrak in Organize İşler, in Yılmaz Erdoğan's BKM comedy; Çiğdem in Sen Aydınlatırsın Geceyi, in Onur Ünlü's black-and-white film with its own distinctive editing and narration. In my view her best quality is that she plays the part without shrinking it in either world. With Efsun in Kocan Kadar Konuş she also shows she can carry a leading role.

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Ezgi Mola's clearest line on television is the move from comedy to heavy drama: Safiye Derenoğlu in Masumlar, a two-season psychological drama on TRT 1, against Alev Alev in Erşan Kuneri, part of a comedy made for Netflix. In my view the turn shows that a serious side sits beside her comedy background.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

With Ezgi Mola's films you have to sort by audience. Kocan Kadar Konuş is a romantic comedy about a woman whose family sets out to remake her; Mola's Efsun is in the lead, and it suits adults and older children. Veda is a historical drama about Atatürk's life, which can be watched with school-age children if you talk it through. Organize İşler is a comedy from Istanbul's underworld, and in my view not one for the little ones.
