Fikret Kuşkan — Biography

Mehmet Fikret Kuşkan was born on 22 April 1965 in Istanbul and grew up in İstinye alongside four sisters; his father was of Albanian descent. After losing his father at thirteen, he spent a few years in Tokat before returning to Istanbul to attend Hasköy Lisesi. Encouraged by a literature teacher to pursue theatre, he went on to graduate from the Theatre Department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory.

His screen debut came in 1988 with Zülfü Livaneli's Sis, and he played a photographer in the TRT series Gençler. His turn in Ömer Kavur's Gizli Yüz earned him a shared Best Actor prize at the 1991 Golden Orange. He later collected Best Actor honours at the 2002 Ankara Film Festival for Ümit Ünal's debut feature 9, and at the 25th Istanbul Film Festival for his portrayal of Sadık in Çağan Irmak's Babam ve Oğlum, one of several collaborations with Irmak that also included Mustafa Hakkında Herşey and Yolculuk.

On television he has appeared in series such as Hanımın Çiftliği, Parmaklıklar Ardında, Kızlarım İçin, Zalim İstanbul and Elkızı, while his film credits include Şampiyon, Direniş Karatay, Mucize 2: Aşk and Akif, in which he played Mehmet Akif Ersoy. In 2026 he starred as Umur Karanoğlu in the series Aynı Yağmur Altında.
