Guy Decomble — Biography
Guy Decomble, born Guy André Emmanuel Decomble on 12 November 1910 in Aulnay-sous-Bois, was a French film and television actor who appeared in close to fifty productions over his career. He made his screen debut in Jean Renoir's 1935 film The Crime of Monsieur Lange and followed it with a role in Bizarre, Bizarre in 1937. In the postwar years he became a reliably employed supporting player: he played a concierge in Ouvert contre X, a criminal nicknamed 'Crazy Jacques' in Cet homme est dangereux, and a Paris transport-authority station chief in Archimède le clochard. In 1956 he played Commissioner Ledru in Jean-Pierre Melville's Bob le Flambeur. 1959 was his busiest year: he played a bookseller in Claude Chabrol's The Cousins, while his best-remembered performance came the same year as the teacher nicknamed 'Petite Feuille' in François Truffaut's The 400 Blows. Late in his career he continued to appear in films such as Maigret Sees Red and The Straight Line, the latter released in the year of his death. Decomble died in Châtellerault on 14 August 1964.
