Kemal İnci — Biography

Kemal İnci was born on 15 May 1933 in Elazığ; after finishing middle school he began his artistic life in tent and travelling theatres before moving into film through work as a set laborer. Reversing the usual path, he directed before he acted, making films such as Günah Kızları and Cesur Kardeşler in the 1960s while also writing and producing some of his own productions, and later in his career published two books, "Şarkımız Yalnızlar Rıhtımı" (2012) and "Yeşilçam Anıları" (2016). He was the elder brother of fellow Yeşilçam actor Bilal İnci.

Across a screen career spanning decades, he appeared alongside Şener Şen in enduring Turkish films such as Züğürt Ağa (1985) and Kabadayı (2007), as well as in Kolpaçino (2009), taking on both lead and supporting roles across film and television. In 2015 he appeared as a guest on the FOX matchmaking show "Esra Erol'la İzdivaç."

He died of a heart attack in İzmir on 30 September 2018 at the age of 85 and was buried at Doğançay Cemetery; his death was widely covered in the Turkish press as the loss of one of Yeşilçam's veteran names.
