Marie Déa — Biography

Born Odette Alice Marie Deupès, Marie Déa was born in Nanterre on 17 May 1912 and died in an accident in the 10th arrondissement of Paris on 1 March 1992. Active in French cinema for over four decades, she took on more than fifty film roles between 1939 and 1983, starting out by playing multiple characters in Personal Column. She is best remembered for playing Eurydice in Jean Cocteau's classic Orphée, alongside Jean Marais. Having played Anaïs Maloret in The Green Mare, she spent much of her later career in older supporting parts: an aunt in Armaguedon, a mother in The Hurried Man, and a landlady in Marriage. Married to fellow actor Lucien Nat, she also appeared in Two Are Guilty and The Good and the Bad, staying a steady presence on screen across a long career.
