Serap Aksoy — Biography

Sometimes credited as Serap Aksoy Gürkan, she was born in Istanbul on 24 June 1964. After graduating from the Ballet Department of the Istanbul State Conservatory, she continued her ballet training at the Munich Music Academy and performed as a professional dancer with the State Opera and Ballet.

She entered film with productions such as Değirmen (1986) and Yer Demir Gök Bakır (1987), and won best supporting actress at the 29th Antalya Film Festival for her role in İki Kadın (1992). Beyond films such as Piano Piano Bacaksız, C Blok and Yağmur: Kıyamet Çiçeği, she played Berrin Menderes in the television series Hatırla Sevgili and Ahuzar Azizoğlu in Aşka Sürgün; across a career of more than forty years in theatre, film and television she took on numerous roles and became a member of ÇASOD. In September 2025 she received the Honorary Award, shared with fellow actor Settar Tanrıöğen, at the 62nd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.

She was married to former minister and politician Aydın Güven Gürkan until his death.
