Serkan Çayoğlu — Biography

Serkan Çayoğlu was born on 31 May 1987 in Germany to a Turkish family. After finishing an economics degree in Germany, he returned to Turkey, worked briefly as a model, and then trained for acting under coaches including Ümit Çırak and Dolunay Soysert. He made his screen debut with a minor part in Kuzey Güney in 2012, followed by Zeytin Tepesi and, that same year, the series that made him a household name, Kiraz Mevsimi, in which his role as Ayaz Dinçer led to widespread recognition and to meeting his future wife, actress Özge Gürel, who became his co-star. He went on to lead roles in Hayatımın Aşkı, the military drama Börü, the crime series Halka, Bir Zamanlar Kıbrıs and Yeni Hayat, and later portrayed Sultan Mehmed II in Mehmed: Sultan of Conquests. His work has drawn a substantial following both in Turkey and abroad.
