House M.D. (House)

House (also known as House M.D.) is an American medical drama that aired on Fox for eight seasons and 177 episodes, from November 16, 2004 to May 21, 2012. The series follows Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), a misanthropic medical genius dependent on pain medication, who leads a diagnostic team at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. His disregard for hospital rules brings constant conflict with his boss, Dean of Medicine Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), while his only true friend is oncologist James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard).

The premise originated with Paul Attanasio and was developed by creator David Shore, with Katie Jacobs and Bryan Singer among the executive producers. Ranked among the top 10 American series from its second through fourth seasons, House was the most-watched television program in the world in 2008 and earned five Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes and a Peabody Award.
