Kezban

Kezban is a 1968 color Turkish drama directed by Orhan Aksoy, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ahmet Üstel. Produced by Erman Film, it is adapted from Muazzez Tahsin Berkand's novel of the same name. Ali, a prominent Istanbul building contractor, receives a letter from Gemlik informing him that Hacer, the woman he married and abandoned many years earlier, has died and left behind their daughter Kezban. Concealing the truth, he introduces himself as a family friend and brings the girl to his mansion in Istanbul. Ridiculed by high society for her clothes and provincial manners, Kezban finds encouragement in Fazıla, the household's staunchest ally, and enrolls in boarding school, emerging as an elegant and educated young woman. Complications arise when she falls for Ferit, a doctor who is expected to become engaged to Ali's other daughter Lale. Before his death, Ali reveals to Kezban that he is her father and leaves her a share of his wealth. When the secret surfaces, Kezban is driven from the house, but the half-sisters eventually reconcile and Kezban is united with Ferit. The film stars Hülya Koçyiğit and İzzet Günay.
