The Eighties (Seksenler) (translated)

Seksenler is a long-running Turkish series that started on TRT 1 on January 24, 2012, blending nostalgia, romance and comedy. MinT Motion Pictures produced the show, which traces the social changes Turkey went through from the 1980s onward through the everyday troubles of a neighborhood, centered partly on the five-member Özdemir family, and how its residents worked through them.

The broadcast history was anything but steady: the show first wrapped with episode 228 on May 27, 2017, then returned after a two-year gap with episode 229 on October 11, 2019, switching to a weekday schedule. Frequency kept shifting from season to season until the series, spanning ten seasons in total, closed for good with its 655th episode on June 10, 2022.

Rasim Öztekin was among the standout cast members, alongside Ceyhun Fersoy, Pelin Akil, Serhat Kılıç, Aylin Kontente, Begüm Öner, Emre Taştekin, Ayşe Tolga, Bahar Süer and Suzan Kardeş.
