İlker Ayrık — Biography

İlker Ayrık is a stage-trained comedy actor, presenter and director. Wide audiences know him as the accountant Servet in the Çakallarla Dans film series and as Çağatay in the series Seksenler, and he has kept his ties to the stage.

He considered becoming an engineer in high school but turned to theatre after performing in a school play. In 2003 he graduated from the theatre department of the Müjdat Gezen Art Center Conservatory and spent six years as Müjdat Gezen's assistant. His first phase was theatre: he worked with MSM Oyuncuları, Müjdat Gezen Theatre, Tiyatro Ti and Kent Oyuncuları, appeared in Cimri, and in 2005 founded Pervasız Tiyatro with Aykut Taşkın. From the early 2000s he also moved into cinema, television and advertising, appearing in several Akbank commercials with Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ. On television he played Mürsel in Geniş Aile and took part in Ramazan Güzeldir. The Çakallarla Dans series, which began in 2010, ran to a fifth film in 2018, and he also acted in comedies such as Kedi Özledi, Yapışık Kardeşler, Memlekette Demokrasi Var and Müstakbel Damat.

Ayrık played Çağatay in Seksenler on TRT 1 from 2012 to 2022. In 2018 the comedy programme Acayip Tipler, which he presented with his students, drew attention, and he also does voice-over work.

Their work through different eyes

Cinephile Looks at script, editing and directing choices; keeps a distance from formula films.

İlker Ayrık's face in cinema is largely the accountant Servet: he plays the same figure across the five Çakallarla Dans films from 2010 to 2018. Carrying one role for years takes consistency, but in my view a run of sequels risks holding an actor in one comic key. That is why Yapışık Kardeşler (2015), which he directed himself, stands out: it is where Ayrık builds his own comedy outside the series.

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

İlker Ayrık is most at ease on television in the sitcom: Çağatay in Seksenler, Mürsel Koçak in Geniş Aile. Seksenler is a TRT 1 production that mixes nostalgia, romance and comedy, and I think the timing of a stage-trained comedian pays off most in crowded ensembles like this.
