Cengiz Küçükayvaz — Biography

Cengiz Küçükayvaz was born on 30 July 1968 in the Eşme district of Uşak, into a family in which his father had memorized the Quran. He studied theatre acting at Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts in İzmir, trained under Şahika Tekand and Gürol Tonbul, and began his stage career with the Tuncay Özinel and Hadi Çaman theatre companies. He first became known for the line "Ne diyon lan sen, sibop!", delivered by his character Gazman on the 1990s comedy show Reyting Hamdi, and later reached a much wider audience as Fırıldak Ömer in the series Çiçek Taksi. On screen he appeared in films such as Gemide, Kahpe Bizans and Hemşo, and became a familiar comic presence as Kötü Kenan in the Hababam Sınıfı films and Kamil in the Maskeli Beşler series. In 2007 he competed on Ünlüler Sirki, and the following year opened an acting school and theatre bearing his own name in Ümraniye, Istanbul. He continued in films such as 7 Kocalı Hürmüz, Harbi Define and Çakallarla Dans, and helped write Hadi Hayırlısı: İstakoz'un Haritası.
