Cengiz Küçükayvaz — Biography

Cengiz Küçükayvaz is a familiar face of Turkish comedy. A generation of viewers remembers him for the catchphrase "Ne diyon lan sen, sibop!" on Reyting Hamdi and as Fırıldak Ömer in Çiçek Taksi; later came Kötü Kenan in the Hababam Sınıfı films and Kamil in the Maskeli Beşler series. He continues to work in cinema and at the theatre that bears his name.

Born into a family of Quran reciters in Eşme, he studied theatre at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dokuz Eylül University, taking lessons from Şahika Tekand and Gürol Tonbul. He first appeared on a professional stage with the Tuncay Özinel Theatre and then the Hadi Çaman Theatre. In the 1990s he featured in Kibariye's Alıştık Artık video, and Çiçek Taksi and Reyting Hamdi (1995-2002) gave him a lasting place on television. On film, Gemide, Laleli'de Bir Azize, Kahpe Bizans, Hemşo and Yeşil Işık belong to his first period.

In the 2000s he took part in productions such as Emret Komutanım, Cennet Mahallesi, Süper Ajan K9, 7 Kocalı Hürmüz, Harbi Define and Çakallarla Dans, and in 2007 competed on Ünlüler Sirki. In 2008 he opened the Cengiz Küçükayvaz Theatre in Ümraniye, which also offers basic acting classes. He voiced a role in the animation Evliya Çelebi ve Ölümsüzlük Suyu and contributed to the screenplay of Hadi Hayırlısı: İstakoz'un Haritası.
