Rush to Interest Rates (Faize Hücum) (translated)

Faize Hücum ("Rush to Interest") is a 1982 Turkish film directed by Zeki Ökten from a script by Fehmi Yaşar. Genco Erkal plays Kamil Bey, a retired civil servant with thirty years of service and twenty-two commendations, who pours his bonus, his salary and eventually his late father's house into Turkey's mushrooming "banker" investment schemes, only to be left with nothing when the era's real-life banking crisis collapses around him. Told with a social-realist eye and streaks of satire, the film was censored on its earliest television broadcasts, went on to win several awards, and was later included in Agah Özgüç's book 100 Filmde Türk Sineması.
