At the Bar (Barda)
Barda (international title: At the Bar) is a 2007 Turkish horror-thriller film written and directed by Serdar Akar. Inspired by a real incident that occurred in the Gaziosmanpaşa district of Ankara in 1997, it was released nationwide in Turkey on February 2, 2007, with filming carried out in the abandoned Sümerbank factory in Beykoz.
The story follows a group of young friends who regularly gather at a friend's bar, until strangers storm in and take them hostage at gunpoint, subjecting them to violence and torture through the night. Nejat İşler plays the gang leader, alongside Erdal Beşikçioğlu, Hakan Boyav, Serdar Orçin, Melis Birkan, Burak Altay, Volga Sorgu and Zeki Demirkubuz. The film competed at the 26th International Istanbul Film Festival and was marketed as the most violent Turkish film ever made.
