El Ministerio del Tiempo

El Ministerio del Tiempo is a Spanish fantasy and historical fiction series created by brothers Pablo and Javier Olivares and produced by Onza Partners and Cliffhanger for RTVE. The story revolves around a secret government body called the Ministry of Time, whose agents travel through special doors to keep anyone from rewriting Spain's past. Its core patrol unites three recruits from different centuries: Alonso de Entrerríos, a 16th-century soldier; Amelia Folch, among the first women to attend university in the 19th century; and Julián Martínez, a nurse from the present day. Their assignments take them through key moments of Spanish history, bringing encounters with such figures as Queen Isabella of Castile, Cervantes, Lope de Vega and Picasso.

The series debuted on La 1 on 24 February 2015 and concluded in June 2020 after four seasons and 42 episodes. An agreement between RTVE and Netflix expanded the third season's budget and carried the show to international audiences, while the fourth season premiered on TVE in May 2020 and reached HBO shortly afterward. The series earned recognition including a Premios Ondas award and inspired a Portuguese remake titled Ministério do Tempo.
