Real (Gerçek) (translated)
Gerçek ("The Truth") is a 1974 Turkish feature directed by Temel Gürsu from a screenplay by Erdoğan Tünaş. Produced by Olgun Eltan for Olgun Film, the colour picture reached cinemas on 1 September 1974, runs about 70 minutes and blends crime, thriller and melodrama elements. Seyhan Karabay composed the score and Kenan Kurt served as cinematographer.
The story follows Selma, happily married to Kemal, whose world is upended by a mysterious phone call while her husband is away on business: a dying woman named Ceyda has asked to see Kemal one last time. Going to the hospital in his place, Selma hears troubling claims about her husband from Ceyda's friend Sevda and begins digging into Kemal's past — an investigation that confronts her with truths she never expected.
Perihan Savaş plays Selma opposite Aytaç Arman as Kemal, with Ceyda Karahan, Seyhan Karabay, Turgut Boralı, Hüseyin Zan and Hamit Yıldırım rounding out the cast. In keeping with the era's dubbing practice, well-known voices such as Şener Şen, Hayri Esen and Gülen Kıpçak feature on the soundtrack.
