Teacher Kemal (Öğretmen Kemal)
Öğretmen Kemal is a 1981 Turkish drama directed by Remzi Jöntürk from a screenplay by Mehmet Aydın, produced by Süreyya Duru. The cast is led by Cüneyt Arkın, with Fikret Hakan, Eşref Kolçak and Meral Orhonsay in supporting roles.
The story follows Kemal, an idealistic teacher devoted to Atatürk's reforms, who is assigned to the village of Karalar. His arrival unsettles the reactionary circles of the village, above all Şerif Hoca and his followers, because Kemal is determined to build a school and educate every child in the community. Despite threats, he refuses to back down. When a false accusation of seduction is fabricated against him, an enraged mob attacks him with stones and clubs, and he loses his life. The outlaw Duran Ali (Fikret Hakan) then hunts down those responsible and avenges the murdered teacher. Blending drama with political themes, the film portrays a reformist teacher's tragic struggle against bigotry.
