Shahada

Shahada is a 2010 German drama written and directed by Burhan Qurbani. The episodic film follows three young German-born Muslims in Berlin whose paths cross as each struggles to reconcile religious faith with modern life in contemporary Western society. Made as Qurbani's graduation project at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, it screened in competition at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, where it contended for the Golden Bear, and went on to appear at numerous other festivals. The title refers to the Shahada, the Islamic profession of faith. The ensemble cast includes Maryam Zaree and Vedat Erincin.
