Vedat Erincin — Biography

Vedat Erincin was born in 1957 in Istanbul, moved to Germany in 1978 to study textiles, and went on to build a career as an actor and writer working in both Turkish and German theatre and film circles. His first daughter, later actress Pınar Erincin, was born in 1983. He joined the Arkadaş Theatre ensemble as a professional actor in 1986, then co-founded the Wupper-Theater in Wuppertal with actress Lilay Huser in 1991, working there until 2003 before returning to lead the Arkadaş Theatre until 2006. He staged around fifteen plays centered on intercultural theatre and also worked in radio drama. His screen debut came in 2008 as Kadir in Evet, ich will!; in 2011 he played Hüseyin in Almanya: Welcome to Germany, selected for the Berlinale competition, and that same year earned a German Film Award nomination for his role as an enlightened imam in Shahada. In Turkey he appeared in Janjan, Kuma, Şarkı Söyleyen Kadınlar, 300 Worte Deutsch, Willkommen bei Habib and Tatar Ramazan, then in the films İçimdeki İnsan, Mutlu Kuzular and Macho Man. He played Haydar in the 2020 series Çukur, and more recently has appeared in Gölgeler İçinde, Terzi, Tereddüt Çizgisi and Faraway.
