Umutsuzlar
The Desperate Ones is a 1971 Turkish film written and directed by Yılmaz Güney, who also stars alongside Filiz Akın. The film is notable for reuniting the two actors after their collaboration in Prisoners Without Shackles (1964).
In the film, Fırat, a notorious gangster from Istanbul, falls in love with the ballerina Çiğdem; Çiğdem reciprocates his feelings, but conditions their relationship on Fırat giving up his dangerous life. Fırat, who can't seem to adapt to living without weapons, and Çiğdem's relationship heads towards a tragic end. The film stars Yılmaz Güney, Filiz Akın, and Hayati Hamzaoğlu.
The film won the Best Third Film and Best Cinematography (Gani Turanlı) awards at the 3rd Adana Golden Koza Film Festival in 1971.
