A Broken Love Story (Kırık Bir Aşk Hikayesi) (translated)

Kırık Bir Aşk Hikâyesi is a Turkish drama directed by Ömer Kavur, with a screenplay adapted from an original text by Selim İleri. Filming took place in the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir.

The story follows a solitary literature teacher who has just been assigned to a small provincial town and the son of a wealthy family, who is stuck in an engagement he never wanted. A secret romance grows between them, but gossip and family pressure make things increasingly difficult, and the two are pulled apart when the woman leaves town. Years later, a chance encounter forces the former couple to confront the regrets they carried with them.

Kadir İnanır and Hümeyra star in the lead roles, with Orhan Çağman appearing as the character "Recep." The film is remembered for its intimate portrayal of provincial life at the time.
