Fearless Coward (Korkusuz Korkak)

Korkusuz Korkak is a 1979 Turkish comedy-adventure film directed by Natuk Baytan and written by Erdoğan Tünaş. Kemal Sunal stars as Mülayim Sert, a man whose life has been marked by failure until he wins the lottery jackpot, after which his newfound fearlessness turns him into an entirely different person. His bold behaviour sets off a chain of absurd events involving the people around him. The film features colourful supporting characters such as Ayı Abbas, Gaddar Kerim, Amorti Kazım, Çaycı Bedo and Sansar Selim. Shot in Istanbul in 1979, it carries a satirical edge reflecting the skewed order of its era, and opened in cinemas on 11 January 1980. The cast also includes Turgut Özatay, Ayşin Atav, Hikmet Taşdemir, Rıza Pekkutsal and Belkıs Dilligil. In later decades the film reached wide audiences through VHS and DVD, and its lines became part of popular culture.
