It's Hard to Be Nice
It's Hard to Be Nice (Teško je biti fin) is a 2007 Bosnian–British drama directed by Srđan Vuletić, who co-wrote the screenplay with Miroslav Mandić. Vuletić's second feature, it opened the 13th Sarajevo Film Festival in 2007 and was Bosnia and Herzegovina's official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 80th Academy Awards, though it did not make the shortlist.
Set in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, where many are left to forge their own destinies, the film follows Fudo, a Sarajevo taxi driver living with his wife and newborn baby. Pressured by his wife to cut his ties with the local mafia, he resolves to become an honest, peace-loving family man — only to find the events that follow putting his family and his new life to a severe test.
