Also known as Gurbet Kadını, Kızım ve Ben was directed in 1988 by Halit Refiğ as a Turkish melodrama. Safa Önal and Erdoğan Tünaş wrote the screenplay and Türker İnanoğlu produced it for Erler Film. Shot in colour on 35 mm, it runs 122 minutes and explores a mother-daughter bond through sacrifice and remorse.

Reyhan (Gülşen Bubikoğlu), abandoned while pregnant by her boyfriend Kenan (Kerem Yılmazer), leaves her baby at a mosque courtyard with a letter and then attempts suicide. Vedat (Cüneyt Arkın), a wealthy fashion industrialist, gets her to hospital in time and changes her life: she joins his firm, they marry, and together they search for the lost child, Çağla. Years later a grown, rebellious Çağla (Nilüfer Öz) is seeing Cem (Yılmaz Zafer), whom Reyhan dislikes because he means to use the girl to get rich. As money, threats and pressure pile up, the tension between mother and daughter ends in a tragic confrontation that reaches a courtroom.

Cem Erman, Devrim Parscan and Bülent Ufuk are also in the cast; the cinematographer is Çetin Gürtop.
