Luxury Life (Lüküs Hayat) (translated)

Lüküs Hayat is a 1950 Turkish black-and-white musical comedy directed by Lütfi Ö. Akad. It was adapted for the screen by Selahattin Küçük and Akad from the celebrated 1933 operetta of the same name, written by Ekrem Reşit Rey with music by Cemal Reşit Rey. Hürrem Erman produced the film for Erman Film.

The story follows Rıza and Fıstık, two small-time thieves who slip into a wealthy mansion intending to rob it, only to find themselves in the middle of a lavish costume ball. When diamonds are stolen during the party, the pair become entangled in a chain of comic misunderstandings. Set in 1930s Turkey, the film draws its humor from the clash between Westernized high society and ordinary people, satirizing the class divides and cultural pretensions of the early Republican era. Considered a classic of Turkish cinema, it stars Sezer Sezin, Settar Körmükçü, Halide Pişkin, Adile Naşit and Hulusi Kentmen.
