The Back Side of Beyoğlu (Beyoğlu'nun Arka Yakası) (translated)

Beyoğlu'nun Arka Yakası ("The Back Side of Beyoğlu") is a 1986 Turkish drama film directed by Şerif Gören, one of the defining figures of Turkish cinema.

At its centre is Haydar Rıza (Tarık Akan), a civil servant who storms out after a night-time argument with his wife and ends up adrift in an unfamiliar nightlife tucked into Beyoğlu's back streets, where his path crosses with Oya Aydoğan's character Zümrüt. As the title suggests, the film turns its lens on the hidden side of Istanbul's Beyoğlu district.
