A Handful of Soil (Bir Avuç Toprak)

A Handful of Soil is a 1957 Turkish film written, produced, and directed by Osman F. Seden, adapted from a novel and made as the second film Seden directed that year. Produced for Kemal Film, it stars the studio's contract actor Ayhan Işık (as Ömer) alongside Pervin Par, with Turgut Özatay (Kaplan) and Nubar Terziyan (Mehmet Ağa) rounding out the cast.

The story follows the conflict between a landowner (ağa) who falls for the village's most beautiful girl and the girl's fiancé; driven more by a matter of the heart than any dispute over land, the plot builds to a tragic ending marked by the hero's death. The film is remembered as one of the productions that brought Ayhan Işık further success.
